Pitcher plants are excellent house plants. As a carnivorous plant, they'll keep you and your kids entertained with their bug eating appetites. Keep their soil wet but not soggy. The easiest way to ensure wet but not soggy soil conditions is to use a saucer below a pot with a drainage hole. This will allow for water to be absorbed as needed through the root system.
Nepenthes prefer bright, sunny locations with tons of light, preferably a windowsill with Southern, Eastern or Western direction. If you are in a tropical environment, like Florida, they will do well outside. Please remember to bring them inside when the temperature drops below 50F.
If a sunny window is not available for your pitcher plant, growing lights can be used. Remember, humid conditions are needed for this tropical plant.
